Dr. Pin Luarn earned his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Tunghai University in Taiwan and went on to receive his Master and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States. In 2023, he was recognized by Stanford University as one of the WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS.
 
He currently serves as a Professor at the School of Management, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He was the Dean of the School of Management from 2016 to 2019. Prior to this, he held the position of Director of the EMBA Program from 2009 to 2016 and was the Dean of the Student Affairs Office from 2007 to 2009. His academic works have been published in various scholarly journals, including "Computers in Human Behavior," "Internet Research," "Computers & Operations Research," "Information Systems Journal," and "The Journal of Academic Librarianship."

Professor Luarn received the "Highly Commended Paper Award of 2014" from Emerald for his article titled "Speech or Silence: The Effect of User Anonymity and Member Familiarity on the Willingness to Express Opinions in Virtual Communities," published in the "Online Information Review," and co-authored with researcher Ai-Yun Hsieh.

Dr. Luarn was also awarded the "Highly Commended Paper Award of 2015" by Emerald for his article "Key Variables to Predict Tie Strength on Social Network Sites," published in "Internet Research," co-authored with researcher Yu-Ping Chiu.


Additionally, he has served as an independent board member of 104 Information Technology in Taiwan and has been involved with several non-profit organizations.
 
欒斌教授曾任台灣科技大學管理學院院長、EMBA執行長、學務長、電子商務中心主任等職。
研究領域電子商務、網路行銷、社群行為等,學術發表於三十多篇國際級期刊,並有三篇高引用論文。2014與2015連續兩年也獲得出版社Emerald選為“Highly Commended Paper Award”。
